We are all out of bubblegum - Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi stamp lovers!

Elisa here again with my latest project for Ink Art Designs, a mixed media 'cheeky penguin' art journal page!

My youngest son is in love with penguins, having completed many a school project on them and also seeing them at wildlife parks. We also love the penguins in the movie Madagascar and when I saw this stamp I knew I had to have it in my collection.  So many cheeky quotes and sayings come to mind lol.

When I positioned the penguins on my page, I wanted them to look like they were staring at the reader to sense the 'impending violence' from the penguins after their gum had run out. I think the gel printed circle in the background works well with highlighting them.

Let's take a look at the products used to complete this page.

Other products used:

Paper Artsy Paints
Circle Gel Plate
Black Soot Watercolour Ink - Colour Blast
Versafine Ink - Black
Fine Black Marker
Circle Template

To start my page, I used a 4 inch circle gel plate and Paper Artsy paints to create my sunset.
Smooth a small amount of yellow, orange and deep red over your gel plate with a small brayer until the edges of each colour have blended. Then lay a stencil down over the top and brayer a small amount of white paint through. Then lay your paper down and smooth over the top with your hands to get your print. Once dry fussy cut the circle out and using circle templates and a black marker, make grungy circles over your sunset.

Stamp and colour your penguins, then once dry fussy cut them out and put them aside until you are ready to adhere to the page.

My next step is to glue my sunset down onto my page, then go around the circle with black ink and spritz with water. Dry the black ink and now you can add your grungy stamping and stencilling.

I added some black grungy lines to make a 'horizon' and drew a cityscape free hand in the back ground to make it look like they are standing in front of a city.

Add some scribbly writing, more grungy stamping and your title and lastly your penguins!

Your art journal page is complete.

"Life is Beautiful" Art Journal page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn to share a project for Ink Art Designs today.

My goodness this year is flying, we are almost all the way through October, I have been a bit quiet the last few months with creating due to some tough circumstances on the homefront. So here is a timely reminder to take care of yourself and your family and that it is OK to take some time out  if you need it.

I loved putting this art journal page together, what started out as a large pile of stamps and stencils ended with a sea themed art journal page with a bit of white space and not at all what I had planned.

Guess that's the beauty of art journalling, channelling your thoughts and feelings through art onto a page!

Here are a few of the products used from Ink Art Designs, if they are not in stock at the moment, no problem, just message Dot to see if she can get them in for you!

Seahorse Stamp - Scrapbooking Stamp
visible-image-stamps - ink splats, ripple effect, life is beautiful
Meshing Around and Fibres Stencils from Visible Image

Other products used include:

Colour Blast Watercolour inks, Tim Holtz Distress Stains and Inks, Izink Metallic Ink
Embossing powders in Royal Blue and Gold

Here are some close ups!

You can see from the close ups, that I embossed the Seahorse stamp and added a smidge of colour after to fill in some of the white. The circles in the background behind the seahorse make a great frame which draws your eye to the beautiful stamped image.

'Bohemian' Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

Just sharing my latest Art Journal page for Ink Art Designs.

This is another page that I have completed in my mini Art Journal book that I posted about on the 24th August, inspired by the talented Tina Walker.

I haven't added a quote to this art journal page, it just felt 'enough' so I stopped!

Here is another look at the outside of the mini art journal books I made with the fabric covers.

and below is a close up of all the glorious texture from the recycled baby wipe, sari silk offcuts and vellum rose stickers that are in the background.

Let's take a look at the stamp I used from Ink Art Designs.....

Other items include:

Sari Silk, Vellum Stickers, Distress Oxide Inkpads, recycled baby wipe, Prima Confection Watercolours, Sigma Black Marker 0.7mm

After stamping her face on a separate piece of cardstock, I glued small strips and pieces of Sari Silk around her face and fashioned her hair, I added fine lines for her shoulders using a maker and then glued her baby wipe shirt on. I added her head piece 'crown of flowers' as it picked up the colours in her shirt and flowers and made her a true bohemian lady. Add small amounts of watercolour to the face, eyes and lips and shading under her chin etc.

Before I glued the Sari Silk down onto my page, I added my collage stickers and then added a thin wash of colour around and over the top to dull them down a bit.

A scribbled border using a marker adds the last touches.
