Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn today to share a project for Ink Art Designs as part of the design team.

I have been itching to create something with the new Dina Wakely stamp set - Say Yes 2 for a while now and I decided to pair it with another stamp set from Rubber Dance called - Loose Florals 2 to create this art journal page.

I stamped the face stamp onto old book paper and coloured using watercolour pencils, neocolour II crayons and oil pastels.

For the background I used tissue paper, inks, the background stamps from the Dina Wakely set and Life of Colour Paint Pens.

I decided I wanted to add a lovely bunch of flowers for hair and went with Colour Artist inks and Dina Wakely paint on cardstock then stamped the Loose Florals 2 stamp set over the top once dry. Then all you have to do is a bit of fussy cutting and glue to your page.

I added my quote which is a Tim Holtz Small Talk Quote from the sticker book and few pieces of scrap paper and washi tape to finish.

I also love adding highlights using a fine white paint marker.

The last thing I like to add, especially to a portrait or face stamp is shadows using a black watercolour pencil - Stabilo All purpose.

'Wild and Free' by Elisa Ablett - Ink Art Designs

Hi stampers,

My turn to share a project for Ink Art Designs today.

I created a card using Kraft Cardstock as my base and featuring Rubber Dance Stamps and Colour Blast Artist Inks. This design can also be an art journal page as well.

I love the look of the Kraft Cardstock with bright colours, it seems to make them pop even more!

Let's take a closer look.  I used the bright and vibrant Artist Inks from Colour Blast (now under the umbrella of BeeArty) The inks are water based so perfect for creating beautiful watercolour backgrounds for stamping over. I also embossed my Butterfly Trio with black embossing powder.

I made a whole heap of tie dyed tissue paper with the inks a while back for some mixed media classes, so I cut a small piece to use under my die for the background of the card. Tissue paper can sometimes be hard to adhere to your cardstock without creating wrinkles or lines BUT the best way is to just use an ordinary everyday cheap gluestick! It works a treat. Smooth with your hands or a palette knife gently over the top and the finish is perfect.
