'Smile' Scrapbooking Layout - Paper Rose Studio

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Paper Rose Studio with my latest project featuring loads of awesome goodies including the new Circle Mandala Die and Monochromatic 12x12 paper pack.

On a recent crafting getaway with my buddy Tanya Froud, she handed me this photo of her gorgeous daughter Emily and a challenge to use pink/yellow and orange in a layout. Challenge accepted!

I wanted the bring out the mandala from the photo onto the page and keep a lot of the monochromatic black and white tones and add a smattering of those - holy heck neon colours!

I used a rubber brayer to add my colour to the page, i find the brayer can add texture and patterns with only a few passes across the page.

I love the look of the cement ink cube (subtle grey) through a stencil onto white cardstock and then cut the piece into an interesting shape to add dimension and interest behind your photo.

This layout has become a firm favourite of mine!

Mister we are the Weirdo's! - Art Journal Page for Ink Art designs.

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest creation, a theatrical art journal page featuring a gorgeous stamp from Stampotique.

I created this page whilst on a crafty retreat with my awesome bestie Tanya Froud. I had the idea to create a stage and use the light on his wings and Tanya came up with the quote and hand drew the cute spider to finish it off for me.

Sometimes your most favourite arty project comes from collaboration with friends!

To start, I painted the stage, curtains and hanging lights in using a few different mediums including Acrylic Paints, watercolours and inks. I distressed and grunged up the curtains to look old and frayed. I painted the floor boards to look like old wooden boards and added the spotlights by using white gesso and neon yellow watercolour from the Art by Marlene Brighter than Bright watercolours. I stamped the image onto heavy white cardstock and coloured using watercolours. I added the neon highlights on the tips of the wings and fussy cut the image out and added to the journal page. I then handed over my page to Tanya to add her quotes and the cutesy hand drawn spider for me. I just love how it turned out!

'Happy Birthday' Mandala Card - Paper Rose Studio

Hi Everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Paper Rose Studio with my latest creation, a glittery mandala card featuring the new Black and Gold paper collection and Mandala cutting die.

Everyone loves a little bling or glitter for their birthday and this card was so easy to make and looks super classy.

I absolutely adore Mandalas of any kind and add that to some pretty paper and we have a winning combination.

The Black and Gold paper pack features a lovely number of prints and patterns but I loved the old rustic look of the wood and rusted screws in this paper to add a little extra to my card.

Firstly, I cut a black mandala and second one out of Rose Gold Glitter paper, if you rotate them just a little bit you see the lovely layering that can be accomplished with the layering Mandala Cutting Die. Add a border of Glitter Paper in Rose Gold and a sentiment from the Big Black and White Sentiment Range and we have a simple yet classy modern looking Card.

'Stinking Cute' Scrapbooking Page for Ink Art Designs

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here again from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest inspiration for you, a cute scrapbooking page featuring Art by Marlene products and loads of mixed media goodness including paint, inks and Gold Irresistable Ink.

Such a simple but striking layout and you can change up the colour scheme to suit your photos.

To start your layout by drawing a line in pencil across your page and you work off this !

Stencil on the top half by dabbing paint through the stencil with a makeup sponge, I faded the paint off towards the outer edges.

Use black watercolour ink along the pencil line and spritz with water, this will create a wash and drips.

Using the small circular lid, stamp using the turquoise paint along the centre line.

Add gold chains and dots to the layout using a gold irRESTible paint pen.

I added some cool black frames to make the photos pop, they are from Paper Rose Studio.

'Life is about happy moments' Card for Paper Rose Studio

Hi Crafters,

Just sharing my latest project for Paper Rose Studio.

A quick and easy watercolour flower card using a stencil!

To start you need to use a round paintbrush and watercolour you want to use and add the inner colour of the flowers onto your page. Once dry, place your stencil over the top and using a fine black waterproof marker, trace around the inside of your stencil to create outlined flowers over the top of your watercolour. Don't forget to add some final touches using paint pens or copic markers, such as solid stems and leaves, gold stamens and pollen and a great title from Paper Rose's collection of pre-printed sentiments. Easy Peasy! and a great technique that will look different each and every time.

I mounted my watercolour card onto a black and white striped background paper to make the colours pop even more and I love how it turned out.

The stamp of the moon is a Lavinia Stamp and is also available from Ink Art Designs and is a great addition to your stamp collection. Great for backgrounds, silhouette stamping, scene stamping etc

I stamped the moon in an Archival ink (grey colour) and added a watercolor wash over the top. and trimmed it to fit on the curve of the landscape. I stenciled Nuvo Crackle Mousse in Cornflower Blue over the top. Love love this crackle mousse, so easy to use and works almost instantly!

WOW! Embossing Powder and Paper Rose Studio Blog Hop with Elisa Ablett

Hello Crafters and welcome to the WOW! Embossing Powder New Release giveaway Hop!

My name is Elisa and I am here with you as part of the Paper Rose Studio design team.

We are all so excited to show case to you all our beautiful projects created with products from WOW! Embossing Powder and Paper Rose Studio including some new release goodies.

I decided to be a little different and create a grungy boy scrapbooking page and I went a little crazy with techniques using the Embossing Powder. So stay with me here and I will take you through
HOW TO GET MORE OUT OF YOUR EMBOSSING POWDERS!

FIRST TECHNIQUE - Embossing Powder over black modelling paste through a stencil!

Use the sticking power of modelling paste or texture paste to use with your embossing powder through a stencil. I used the Hud Stencil from Paper Rose along with Black Puff WP02 (o) from WOW!

SECOND TECHNIQUE - Embossing Powder with Distress Oxides on Die Cuts

Die Cut cogs and other shapes from Paper Rose Metal Dies, colour with Distress Oxides and while they are wet sprinkle your Embossing Powder over the top and heat emboss immediately. You get a delicious grungy textured look to your die cuts. I used Paper Rose Cogs and Textured background dies along with WOW! Embossing Powder - One Hundred and One WL32UH (OM)

THIRD TECHNIQUE - Cover everythinnnnng with embossing powder! just kidding, I covered Chipboard, matt board, and enamel dots.

Use a liquid embossing liquid to cover large items and tricky ones like enamel dots and chipboard. I used One Hundred and One embossing powder again because the finish is just amazing!

FOURTH TECHNIQUE - Rusting Technique - Cover Die Cuts with Black Puff embossing powder and use Metallic Waxes to rust your die cuts

Die Cut your cogs from Paper Rose Cog Dies, emboss with Black Puff Embossing Powder, once they have been heat embossed and have dried completely. Then using your finger or cotton bud rub different coloured waxes gently over your embossed die cuts, I used Red Amber, Fire Ruby and Copper.

ONE MORE TECHNIQUE - Use a ruler or straight edge palette knife and black modelling paste to create lines and then heat emboss directly onto your page!

Create the lines by adding modelling paste onto a craft messy mat and splicing your palette knife or steel ruler through the paste and tap onto your page to create grungy lines. Sprinkle your embossing powder over the top of the still wet modelling paste and heat emboss.

Here are some close ups of the scrapbooking page: --

Snarky Art Journal page by Elisa Ablett for Ink Art Designs

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest inspiration for you for October.

You have to love a snarky cat and 'Ignase' from Katzelkraft Stamps does not disappoint.

Let's take a closer look at the art journal page.

I created an ombre style background with watercolour inks and once dry, stenciled black modelling paste over the top and add highlight using Nuvo Embellishment mousse in Gold.

I cut three strips of white cardstock and painted a wood background using Water Colour Inks and paints so they looked like junk wood planks laying around. I also did a bit of rough sewing to add some more texture.

Products used:

Ink Art Designs

Other products:

Colour Blast Colour Artist Inks
Black Modelling Paste
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Gold

'Crazy About You' Card for Ink Art Designs

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here with my latest inspiration for Ink Art Designs, a cute card featuring the Smitten Moustache Monsters from Stampotique.

Ink Art Designs, an Australian stockist, has a huge range (growing by the day) of the quirky great quality stamps that we know and love from Stampotique.

I decided to pair the Moustache Monsters with a great stencil from Flutterby Designs (another great Australian company) called 'Dapper Dan'. I coloured the stamped images with Distress Oxide Ink Pads by smooshing the ink onto a craft mat and spritzing with water and using a small round paintbrush.

I added little details with Life of Colour paint pens.

Here are some of the products used from the Ink Art Designs Shop:

Mustache Stencil - Dapper Dan from Flutterby Designs

Distress Oxides - Spiced Marmalade, Evergreen Bough, Peeled Paint
Life of Colour - Red Paint Pen
Archival Inkpad - Shadow Grey
