Mixed Media Tag by Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest project, a mixed media tag.

Lot's happening on this mixed media tag!

It started out as as gel print on a tag, then I added an image transfer which was just perfect. It was of a black and white pattern in an old magazine. Just loving how the image transfers are turning out on my gel prints, a technique I keep going back too.

Add a bit of background stamping and some collage paper from Scrap FX, make sure it is subtle so as to not take away from the main feature, our funky diva doll from Lost Coast Designs Stamp Company!

After I added a bit of colour in the background with my Distress Oxide Ink pads, I felt it was too bright so I added a white crackle paste over the top, it toned down all the colour brilliantly.

To complete the doll, I actually stamped her a few times on different discarded gel prints I had laying around and pieced her back together with 3D foam squares to give her a bit of life. I added touches of colour pencils on her face to highlight her features. Just love how she turned out, a lovely art doll that you could use over and over again!

'Normal is Boring' by Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from Ink Art Designs design team with my latest inspiration for the month of June.

I created a bit of an abstract art journal page using gelli plate prints, image transfers, bright blue and yellow Dina Wakley Acrylic Paints and a quirky stamp set from Dina Wakley called 'Weird is Good'.

I followed along with the talented Birgit Koopsen on Instagram recently in a month long gel printing challenge. I just love her simple yet super effective technique on magazine/laser jet image transfer. I used a magazine transfer of a large fingerprint using the Lapis Acrylic Paint and two other laser-jet images with the Lemon paint. I then combined all the prints plus stamping and black soot Watercolour ink to finish my art journal page.

I really love how it turned out and will be using this technique over again!

Here is a close up.
