Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn today to share a project for Ink Art Designs as part of the design team.

I have been itching to create something with the new Dina Wakely stamp set - Say Yes 2 for a while now and I decided to pair it with another stamp set from Rubber Dance called - Loose Florals 2 to create this art journal page.

I stamped the face stamp onto old book paper and coloured using watercolour pencils, neocolour II crayons and oil pastels.

For the background I used tissue paper, inks, the background stamps from the Dina Wakely set and Life of Colour Paint Pens.

I decided I wanted to add a lovely bunch of flowers for hair and went with Colour Artist inks and Dina Wakely paint on cardstock then stamped the Loose Florals 2 stamp set over the top once dry. Then all you have to do is a bit of fussy cutting and glue to your page.

I added my quote which is a Tim Holtz Small Talk Quote from the sticker book and few pieces of scrap paper and washi tape to finish.

I also love adding highlights using a fine white paint marker.

The last thing I like to add, especially to a portrait or face stamp is shadows using a black watercolour pencil - Stabilo All purpose.

Art journal page - Ink Art Designs

Happy New Year everyone,

My first post of the year for Ink Art Designs as part of the creative team after a good break over the Christmas and New Year period.

I am sharing with you an art journal page that I created with loads of awesome Ink Art Designs products, make sure you check out the list below with links to the shop.

The snarky quote relates to the 'three skeletal mates' who have seemed to have gotten themselves trapped in a spider web.

I have a love of making snarky art journal pages lately, it is a great way to use your humour as a bit of  therapy!

Let's have a look through the products used:

' 3 in a round ' Stampotique Originals

'Lovely Wings' Stampotique Originals

dina-wakley-paint

distress-oxides

tim-holtz-snarky-small-talk-stickers/

The big spider web stamp is one I had laying around in my stash, it is from Scrap FX Australia.

I happened to use one of the new Tim Holtz colours - Crackling Campfire in the Oxide range and found the lovely deep orange and yellow/black colour scheme perfect for a 'dark humourous' art journal page.

A couple of challenges for you, try the colour combination out and/or an art journal page with a bit of dark humour.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, make sure you head over to the Ink Art designs store and check out all the new products and the facebook group for loads of inspiration.

Mister we are the Weirdo's! - Art Journal Page for Ink Art designs.

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest creation, a theatrical art journal page featuring a gorgeous stamp from Stampotique.

I created this page whilst on a crafty retreat with my awesome bestie Tanya Froud. I had the idea to create a stage and use the light on his wings and Tanya came up with the quote and hand drew the cute spider to finish it off for me.

Sometimes your most favourite arty project comes from collaboration with friends!

To start, I painted the stage, curtains and hanging lights in using a few different mediums including Acrylic Paints, watercolours and inks. I distressed and grunged up the curtains to look old and frayed. I painted the floor boards to look like old wooden boards and added the spotlights by using white gesso and neon yellow watercolour from the Art by Marlene Brighter than Bright watercolours. I stamped the image onto heavy white cardstock and coloured using watercolours. I added the neon highlights on the tips of the wings and fussy cut the image out and added to the journal page. I then handed over my page to Tanya to add her quotes and the cutesy hand drawn spider for me. I just love how it turned out!

Here are some of the products used from the store:-

'Stinking Cute' Scrapbooking Page for Ink Art Designs

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here again from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest inspiration for you, a cute scrapbooking page featuring Art by Marlene products and loads of mixed media goodness including paint, inks and Gold Irresistable Ink.

Such a simple but striking layout and you can change up the colour scheme to suit your photos.

To start your layout by drawing a line in pencil across your page and you work off this !

Stencil on the top half by dabbing paint through the stencil with a makeup sponge, I faded the paint off towards the outer edges.

Use black watercolour ink along the pencil line and spritz with water, this will create a wash and drips.

Using the small circular lid, stamp using the turquoise paint along the centre line.

Add gold chains and dots to the layout using a gold irRESTible paint pen.

I added some cool black frames to make the photos pop, they are from Paper Rose Studio.

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here with my latest inspiration for Ink Art Designs, a fun mini art journal page featuring lovely Art by Marlene goodies including a mask, die cut block and stamp set all available for purchase or order from the website.

I wanted to create a fun little fairytale landscape and used an ombre wash of watercolours in the background along with some stamping.

Here is a close up of my page: -

The stamp of the moon is a Lavinia Stamp and is also available from Ink Art Designs and is a great addition to your stamp collection. Great for backgrounds, silhouette stamping, scene stamping etc

I stamped the moon in an Archival ink (grey colour) and added a watercolor wash over the top. and trimmed it to fit on the curve of the landscape. I stenciled Nuvo Crackle Mousse in Cornflower Blue over the top. Love love this crackle mousse, so easy to use and works almost instantly!

Snarky Art Journal page by Elisa Ablett for Ink Art Designs

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest inspiration for you for October.

You have to love a snarky cat and 'Ignase' from Katzelkraft Stamps does not disappoint.

Let's take a closer look at the art journal page.

I created an ombre style background with watercolour inks and once dry, stenciled black modelling paste over the top and add highlight using Nuvo Embellishment mousse in Gold.

I cut three strips of white cardstock and painted a wood background using Water Colour Inks and paints so they looked like junk wood planks laying around. I also did a bit of rough sewing to add some more texture.

Products used:

Ink Art Designs

Other products:

Colour Blast Colour Artist Inks
Black Modelling Paste
Nuvo Embellishment Mousse - Gold

'Crazy About You' Card for Ink Art Designs

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here with my latest inspiration for Ink Art Designs, a cute card featuring the Smitten Moustache Monsters from Stampotique.

Ink Art Designs, an Australian stockist, has a huge range (growing by the day) of the quirky great quality stamps that we know and love from Stampotique.

I decided to pair the Moustache Monsters with a great stencil from Flutterby Designs (another great Australian company) called 'Dapper Dan'. I coloured the stamped images with Distress Oxide Ink Pads by smooshing the ink onto a craft mat and spritzing with water and using a small round paintbrush.

I added little details with Life of Colour paint pens.

Here are some of the products used from the Ink Art Designs Shop:

Mustache Stencil - Dapper Dan from Flutterby Designs

Distress Oxides - Spiced Marmalade, Evergreen Bough, Peeled Paint
Life of Colour - Red Paint Pen
Archival Inkpad - Shadow Grey

Grumpy Gran Card by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs creating another cheeky/snarky card along with mixed media products.

I love to gel print and sometimes I have a fair few prints left over that just sit there and I found this perfect sized print that had a great print and colour just waiting to use on a card.

So to add to my gel print I added some washi tape and a few resist chipboard stars from my stash along with a hand coloured 'coffee' stamp from Lost Coast Designs. Coffee (aka..Grumpy Gran) was just perfect for the front of a card along with a snarky saying..

I used watercolours and watercolour brush pens to colour my stamped image and once dry I fussy cut my grumpy gran out and added her to my card front. To add a bit of depth to my stamped image, I added a bit of shadowing to her outline using a black watercolour stabilo pencil.

Here are the products and links from the Ink Art Designs Store:-

'Fly Away' by Elisa Ablett for Ink Art Designs

Hi everyone,

Elisa here with my latest inspiration for Ink Art Designs, a simple watercolour art journal page with some featured stamping.

To create this page, I started with a background created using muted colours in blue, raspberry or burgundy and black. You can use either watercolour palette such as the one by Art by Marlene or Distress Oxide inkpads.

I sprayed my page with water and then using a wet on wet technique, I smooshed my colours onto the page. I usually like to use a craft messy mat to spread the liquid around and tip my page into it.  I added more black around the edges of my page.

Once dry, you add your background scribbles and stamping. I decided to re-create the berries and branches in the top left hand corner by hand drawing them and painting them with watercolour paints. I just love how they have turned out. To create the scribbles I used a very fine waterproof black pen or marker and just put pen to paper in a circular manner.

I also stamped the bird onto mixed media cardstock and hand coloured it with watercolour paints, making sure I blended the lovely blues in the colouring of the bird. I then fussy cut the bird and branches out. Glue your bird to the page and using the marker extend the branch out and lightly colour it to make it look longer and blended with your background.

Add extra stamping for your title over your branches and berries.

Here is a close up of the bird stamped and coloured.
