'Take Flight' by Elisa Ablett

Hi Everyone,

My turn to share a project for Ink Art Designs today.

I created a funky and bright art journal page using a few gel prints and bright Dina Wakley paints.

I stamped a lovely lady beetle from the Rubber Dance Stamp Set called 'things with wings' and decided to keep it black and white so that it stood out from the busy bright gel printed backgrounds. I added a shadow behind the beetle to make him pop a little more from the page using a Derwent Ink Intense black pencil.

It's okay to make mistakes by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest project, a mixed media art journal.

Featuring a back ground made with Distress Oxide Ink Pads - Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon and Dina Wakley Paints - White, Magenta, Peacock.

To create the face, I stamped Dina Wakley stamp onto deli paper, glued to my art journal page and coloured the image with watercolours.

To finish the page, I stamped using a black versafine ink pad and used a variety of stamps including That's Crafty Boho Vibes and Script words from Dina Wakley Say Yes stamp set and loads of stencilling using a TCW Well Rounded stencil.

Stenciling around your stamped images can assist with blending the stuck down image with your background.

Art Journal page by Elisa Ablett for Ink Art Designs

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest project, a gel printed art journal page!

So while on a crafting retreat/camp in the mountains with a few friends I pulled out the old A4 gel plate with the intention of creating some unique collage paper and ended up using old music paper and book paper as well. I just loved this colourful print and thought it would be a great background for an art journal page.

I have been meaning to use Katzelkraft - Lamas stamps for a while now and loved this little one prancing, perfect pairing with a snarky sentiment from the Tim Holtz Snarky Small Talk Sticker book.

I find when you have a bright and multilayered background, try to keep the rest really simple, make the main stamped image your focal point and try to draw the eye to it. I hand coloured my prancing lama with watercolours and colour pencils, keeping him fairly clean and simple. I added a large white circle along with a lightly stamped mandala to act as my focal point.

Here is a close up :-)

Embrace Change - Art Journal page - Ink Art Designs

Hi everyone,

My turn today to share another project for Ink Art Designs.

I went straight to my Dina Wakley White Art Journal and Colour Artist Inks from Bee Arty and gathered my Art by Marlene stash!

I wanted to create a multi-colour background in a different way, masking off long rectangles and painting them with different coloured inks. Add some collage paper, stamping and the gorgeous Black Diamond Glimmer Paste from Nuovo.

I love to add gold foil flakes to a lot of my projects, adding a bit of bling and more texture. I also love sewing on my projects and it doesn't have to be neat!!

I love the end result, a unique and quirky art journal page with loads of colour!

Here are all the awesome Ink Art Design goodies that I used to create the art journal page:

Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn to share inspiration for Ink Art Designs today with a very blingy art journal page!

I love working with shapes in my art journal and my favourite of all shapes is the circle.

For this page I cut a circle from a piece of Art by Marlene Collage paper and stuck it to my page. I then stenciled in black ink around the edges and painted the rest of the page with black gesso.

I love using Staz on Ink when stamping on Acetate, be gentle and don't stamp with too much force as this smudges your image. Let the image dry before moving it, sticking it or using it lol

Add some yellow ink and pink paint pen around the circle and once dry, scribble around in wild circles with a black fine tip marker.

Now my trick to easy foiling without a fancy expensive machine, use a simple glue stick - go around and around the circle with the glue stick, a line layer of glue will do. Then using tweezers lay your foil sheet or foil flakes over the glued area, wait til dry then use a stiff hog bristle brush and dab vigorously with the brush over the foil area distressing the foil giving a patchy affect. ( I like to call this Elisa's distressed foiling on the cheap) works a treat and looks great.

Here is a close up of my project.

Kevin and Larry's Bad Decisions by Elisa Ablett

KEVIN AND LARRY GET INTO SOME TROUBLE!

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest project, a bit of a cheeky art journal page. I just love these fun 'Jungle Animals' from Katzelkraft Stamps and think Kevin and Larry will have a whole load of adventures together.

For this page I wanted to create a scene for the background with watercolours, I have a few of the awesome ColourCraft Brushos and I used 'Sandstone' for the ground. I just love how you get all the different speckles of colour out of one little tub.

For the sky and trees, i used my pan watercolours with a round brush and oil pastels over the top.

I stamped around the edges of the page plus added little plants using Art by Marlene - Exclusive Textures stamps, perfect for those little added touches to your projects.

Lets take a closer look!

Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn today to share a project for Ink Art Designs as part of the design team.

I have been itching to create something with the new Dina Wakely stamp set - Say Yes 2 for a while now and I decided to pair it with another stamp set from Rubber Dance called - Loose Florals 2 to create this art journal page.

I stamped the face stamp onto old book paper and coloured using watercolour pencils, neocolour II crayons and oil pastels.

For the background I used tissue paper, inks, the background stamps from the Dina Wakely set and Life of Colour Paint Pens.

I decided I wanted to add a lovely bunch of flowers for hair and went with Colour Artist inks and Dina Wakely paint on cardstock then stamped the Loose Florals 2 stamp set over the top once dry. Then all you have to do is a bit of fussy cutting and glue to your page.

I added my quote which is a Tim Holtz Small Talk Quote from the sticker book and few pieces of scrap paper and washi tape to finish.

I also love adding highlights using a fine white paint marker.

The last thing I like to add, especially to a portrait or face stamp is shadows using a black watercolour pencil - Stabilo All purpose.
