Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn today to share a project for Ink Art Designs as part of the design team.

I have been itching to create something with the new Dina Wakely stamp set - Say Yes 2 for a while now and I decided to pair it with another stamp set from Rubber Dance called - Loose Florals 2 to create this art journal page.

I stamped the face stamp onto old book paper and coloured using watercolour pencils, neocolour II crayons and oil pastels.

For the background I used tissue paper, inks, the background stamps from the Dina Wakely set and Life of Colour Paint Pens.

I decided I wanted to add a lovely bunch of flowers for hair and went with Colour Artist inks and Dina Wakely paint on cardstock then stamped the Loose Florals 2 stamp set over the top once dry. Then all you have to do is a bit of fussy cutting and glue to your page.

I added my quote which is a Tim Holtz Small Talk Quote from the sticker book and few pieces of scrap paper and washi tape to finish.

I also love adding highlights using a fine white paint marker.

The last thing I like to add, especially to a portrait or face stamp is shadows using a black watercolour pencil - Stabilo All purpose.

Life was unreal - Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

My turn to share an inspirational project for Ink Art Designs as part of the design team there.

I created an art journal page, which could also be a card front (with a different sentiment) using a gorgeous stamp set from Rubber Dance called flowers-gone-wild

The background was a gel print that I had created and put aside to use at a later date and I just love the mellow teal and lemon painted background along with the black ink.

I stenciled using a Tim Holtz stencil as well as black ink around the edges of my project to create a frame for the flower. I also used a handmade collage paper using white tissue paper and stamped using a lacey background stamp. You could use Rubber Dance stamp set - lace-borders to create your own collage paper!

Add a touch of old sheet music paper and some random stitching in black cotton for texture and warmth. I tend to call this stitching .... Elisa's dodgy sewing...ahem ok a better way to describe it might be - distressed sewing perhaps ?

Add some white highlights to your stamped image with a white gel pen or paint pen to finish off your project. I added a little bit of orange splooshes to the bottom of the project and to the middle of my stamped flower.

Reach for the Stars - Art Journal Page for Ink Art Designs

Hi everyone,

My turn to share a project for Ink Art Designs today.

I created a bright and funky art journal page using a load of Art by Marlene products and a great print from my gel plate.

On a recent craft trip away with my gorgeous friend Tanya, I pulled out my gel plate to create a few prints with a few of her stencils while I could and WOW the pink and purple print was one of my favorites. I definitely had to use it on a page.

Two of my favourite stamp sets EVER, and that is a big call because I am a stamp hoarder, is the Exclusive Textures and Girl Boss, they are so versatile and you can use them over and over again. You can mix and match to create all different characters and backgrounds.

Here is a close up!

I used watercolours to add colour to my stamped feature girl and to add pops of yellow all over the page. Art by Marlene Whimsy Bright travel palette is perfect with its bright colours. Add details to your page with a white gel pen.

Art journal page - Ink Art Designs

Happy New Year everyone,

My first post of the year for Ink Art Designs as part of the creative team after a good break over the Christmas and New Year period.

I am sharing with you an art journal page that I created with loads of awesome Ink Art Designs products, make sure you check out the list below with links to the shop.

The snarky quote relates to the 'three skeletal mates' who have seemed to have gotten themselves trapped in a spider web.

I have a love of making snarky art journal pages lately, it is a great way to use your humour as a bit of  therapy!

Let's have a look through the products used:

' 3 in a round ' Stampotique Originals

'Lovely Wings' Stampotique Originals

dina-wakley-paint

distress-oxides

tim-holtz-snarky-small-talk-stickers/

The big spider web stamp is one I had laying around in my stash, it is from Scrap FX Australia.

I happened to use one of the new Tim Holtz colours - Crackling Campfire in the Oxide range and found the lovely deep orange and yellow/black colour scheme perfect for a 'dark humourous' art journal page.

A couple of challenges for you, try the colour combination out and/or an art journal page with a bit of dark humour.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, make sure you head over to the Ink Art designs store and check out all the new products and the facebook group for loads of inspiration.

'Smile' Scrapbooking Layout - Paper Rose Studio

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Paper Rose Studio with my latest project featuring loads of awesome goodies including the new Circle Mandala Die and Monochromatic 12x12 paper pack.

On a recent crafting getaway with my buddy Tanya Froud, she handed me this photo of her gorgeous daughter Emily and a challenge to use pink/yellow and orange in a layout. Challenge accepted!

I wanted the bring out the mandala from the photo onto the page and keep a lot of the monochromatic black and white tones and add a smattering of those - holy heck neon colours!

I used a rubber brayer to add my colour to the page, i find the brayer can add texture and patterns with only a few passes across the page.

I love the look of the cement ink cube (subtle grey) through a stencil onto white cardstock and then cut the piece into an interesting shape to add dimension and interest behind your photo.

This layout has become a firm favourite of mine!

Mister we are the Weirdo's! - Art Journal Page for Ink Art designs.

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest creation, a theatrical art journal page featuring a gorgeous stamp from Stampotique.

I created this page whilst on a crafty retreat with my awesome bestie Tanya Froud. I had the idea to create a stage and use the light on his wings and Tanya came up with the quote and hand drew the cute spider to finish it off for me.

Sometimes your most favourite arty project comes from collaboration with friends!

To start, I painted the stage, curtains and hanging lights in using a few different mediums including Acrylic Paints, watercolours and inks. I distressed and grunged up the curtains to look old and frayed. I painted the floor boards to look like old wooden boards and added the spotlights by using white gesso and neon yellow watercolour from the Art by Marlene Brighter than Bright watercolours. I stamped the image onto heavy white cardstock and coloured using watercolours. I added the neon highlights on the tips of the wings and fussy cut the image out and added to the journal page. I then handed over my page to Tanya to add her quotes and the cutesy hand drawn spider for me. I just love how it turned out!

'Happy Birthday' Mandala Card - Paper Rose Studio

Hi Everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Paper Rose Studio with my latest creation, a glittery mandala card featuring the new Black and Gold paper collection and Mandala cutting die.

Everyone loves a little bling or glitter for their birthday and this card was so easy to make and looks super classy.

I absolutely adore Mandalas of any kind and add that to some pretty paper and we have a winning combination.

The Black and Gold paper pack features a lovely number of prints and patterns but I loved the old rustic look of the wood and rusted screws in this paper to add a little extra to my card.

Firstly, I cut a black mandala and second one out of Rose Gold Glitter paper, if you rotate them just a little bit you see the lovely layering that can be accomplished with the layering Mandala Cutting Die. Add a border of Glitter Paper in Rose Gold and a sentiment from the Big Black and White Sentiment Range and we have a simple yet classy modern looking Card.
