Sweet life by Hannah Smith

I have an absolutly massive collection of flowers and sometimes it can take me nearly an hour to find the right one - the exact colour and size that I want to use for the layout so thanks very much to http://another-freaking-scrappy-challenge.blogspot.com.au and their great idea to make the challenge about flowers :)

Good times by Hannah Smith

Great sketch over at http://sketchyboardschallenge.blogspot.com.au and their inspiration colours worked out perfect for these pics my husband took with his phone a few weeks ago! Used a great technique to get the water spots that my friendly local Kazzaz consultant taught me at my last class (thanks Sandy Mann!) of doing big drops of water and using a heat gun to ensure it dries quickly. Love the effect :)

My husband loves his truck and I had not long printed off this photo and was wondering what to do with it when I saw the challenge set by http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au
A bit of a funny story - the day after finishing this page I actually reversed his ute into a telegraph pole and left a huge ding in it! Was not happy with me! He saw this page as well as a few others I had taken including one from the back and he just had to point out "doesn't look like this anymore!" Lol

I have fallen in love with the stash kits that can be ordered from the dlish scraps store. ELISA and I look out for them every month! Love the inspiration board over at
http://d-lishscraps.blogspot.com.au/ this was one of the first pages I did this month. Love it!

Thank you so much to http://whitewith1.blogspot.com.au for providing this great challenge. It really is quite trying to scrap with only white and one other colour but every month I look forward to finding out what colour we will be scrapping this month and exploring ways to complement your photo. Love a good challenge! :)

Show us your stuff may challenge by Hannah smith

I altered the sketch a little. Sometimes I like things a little simplified. Happy with how it turned out :) I use mixed media so much in my art journal but for some reason my scrapping is usually fairly paper orientated. Thanks so much tohttp://showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au for the great sketch!!! I am not as computer literate as Elisa and my iPad is not letting me copy and paste the original link so if you want a look you will have to head over to their blog and just see all the great inspiration they have to offer yourself :)

In dad's footsteps

I find it quite hard to scrap boys layouts so I really love checking out all of the entries and the design teams layouts over at http://scraptheboys.blogspot.com.au . If you are looking for some inspiration for boys pages this is the place to go! For this months challenge I took inspiration from the picture of shoes in the corner and took a pic of my husbands and sons boots sitting together. Logan loves having boots 'just like daddy'.

Scrapbookingtop50oz Challenge Blog - May - Elisa Ablett

Hi Elisa here with my entry for the May Challenge over at Scrapbooking Top 50oz Blog. I just had to participate in this challenge I loved the sketch! I found the quote online (unknown) and thought it fit in with my star theme. This photo of my eldest son is my favourite, it has such vibrant colours in it so when I was rummaging through my scrap supplies I saw my neon paints and decided to do a mixed media background. I loved how this layout turned out. Make sure you pop over to the Challenge Blog and check out this month's challenge.

Scrap the Girls - May Challenge - xoxo Elisa Ablett

Hi Elisa here again with my entry into the May - Scrap the Girls Blog Challenge. Check out the sketch below, I decided to flip the sketch and mix it up a little as I had a design in mind. I dug through my supplies and pulled out a kit from A Piece of Cake Designs Kit Club and just loved the colour combo. I used white crackle paste through a damask stencil for the little splash of white in the top corner. I thought id post a few close ups of the embellishments, I hand died the gauze with a distress stain to match the paper and finished off with a D-lish Scraps flower (yummo!). Check out the link to the Challenge Blog below!!

May KraftPlus Challenge - Be Original - Elisa Ablett

Hi Elisa here again to share the layout I created for the May Kraft Plus Challenge. What a gorgeous moodboard!! Loved the Autumn colours and the beads. I immediately fixated on the beads and the result is that I made my own circular frame with a heap of beads that I had bought years ago when I was introduced to jewellery making (wink, wink....you know when you start a hobby, buy a heap of supplies and then realise you scrapbook too much to gain another hobby...I know you know what I  mean). It took forever too make and im sure ill be vacuuming up the beads that escaped for the next week or so.  I'm really pleased with how the layout turned out, the kraft cardstock, hessian, feathers, beads, butterflies and the distress stains created a natural vibe. "Be Original" is the title and I reflected that by adding original items like the beaded frame (in my fav colours) and the peacock feathers. I rarely scrap a photo of myself but I wanted to showcase the theme of the layout which is being natural, original - do what you love and love what you do.  I think that it will be an important lesson to document for my kids.  Pop on over to the awesome KraftPlus blog to have a look at the inspiring creations and monthly challenge.

Lets Get Sketchy - Week 3 - Design Team Reveal

Welcome to another sketch Challenge at Let's Get Sketchy.  This weeks sketch was created by Jenessa Franco.  Here is the sketch.

Here is my take on the sketch for the Design Team Reveal.

The background was created by using Aladine Izinks along with tinted modelling paste and a heart confetti stencil. The embellishments are D-lish flowers, doily and sequins along with Heidi Swapp resistable ephemera. The heart flair happens to be upcycled from a card that was given to me from a family member. As soon as I saw it I thought I could use it on a layout. Thanks for stopping by!!!

Hop on over to the Lets Get Sketchy Blog and take a look at what the other members of the  Design Team have created with the sketch for this week!!! We'd love to see your take on the sketch :-)

May challenge - White with 1

Hi Elisa here with my entry into the May Challenge over on the White with 1 blog. What a fantastic challenge! I love the colour raspberry and what a striking colour it is with white as your background, it really makes it pop! Here's the link to the challenge blog http://whitewith1.blogspot.com.au/ please pop over and have a look at all the inspiring creations and great challenges.

raspberry wine

Here's my take on the challenge. I used several shades of raspberry in the background including raspberry distress stain, Lindy's stamp gang Raspberry Lemonade and Geranium Aladine Izinks. I stamped and embossed dandelions in the background with Raspberry metallic embossing powder and on the chipboard title I embossed with Metallic Red firstly then a lighter Raspberry colour over the top and distressed it lightly with sand paper to bring a marbled effect. In the close up photos you can see the little white hearts (texture paste through a heart stencil) plus the circle of chunky rose quartz Junkitz crystals to provide a little bling to the feminine page.

Thanks for stopping by the blog !

123 Challenge Blog - May Challenge - Elisa Ablett

http://123-challenge-blog.blogspot.com.au/
Hi Elisa here again with my entry for the May Challenge over on 123 Challenge Blog. I loved this challenge the colour scheme and banners were perfect with my idea for larger banners on my layout.
I used a combination of kaisercraft paper, studio calico and crate paper embellishments. I couldn't resist adding my touch of sparkle to the background paper by flicking Gold and Chocolate Spray Inks.

Lets Get Sketchy Blog - Team A Week 1 - May Reveal

http://letsgetsketchy.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/team-may-week-1.html

Hi Elisa here with my reveal for Week 1 of May with my dedicated and wonderful Team A for Lets Get Sketchy Design Team. Please hop on over to the blog and play along with this weeks challenge, the sketch is amazing and don't forget to check out the other Design Team members layouts.

As usual I had to add a little sparkle in my background with metallic sprays and sequins. I loved how this layout turned out, feminine, pretty and clean. Not the usual mixed media layouts I love to create now but a pleasant mix of techniques.

The paper collection is by PION designs - they came from a kit that I ordered many moons ago from thescrapbookstore.com.au in Western Australia and the lovely ladies there put together a very sweet and feminine kit.

2crafty chipboard Design Team Call

http://2craftychipboard.blogspot.com.au/

This is the first layout I created for the design team call - it just came together after I chose the photo. I used 3 beautiful glossy neon paints through a brick stencil and then built the background up using Kaiser graffiti stamp, black gesso with a triangle stencil and metallic graphite silk. I layered triangles cut out of kaisercraft paper and used a 2crafty chipboard title "Just be You" unfortunately the 'just' part of the title was damaged and I trimmed it off but I was happy with just the 'be you' part.

The title was altered using gesso as a base, then crackle past over the top, once that dried I smeared orange and black ink over the cracks.

The neon colours of the background paint really pops! Such a bargain I picked up these paints at a bookstore closing down and they were cheap!

My second layout that I created is titled : Love
The background was created with Aladine Izinks (Geranium) and Lindy's Stamp Gang  (Raspberry Lemonade), the stamps were from Kaszazz including garden background and dandelion stamp. I also used a confetti heart stencil with modelling paste to create depth.

The below close up shows the two toned embossing powder mountain berry and metallic red used on the 2crafty chipboard flourish title - Love. You can also see in the background that I used gel medium to create a circle around the photo and sprinkled Junkitz Rose Quartz to create a beautiful bling circle around the photo. It was my first time using chunky rocks on one of my layouts and I was really happy with how that looks. I threaded some raspberry mini roses around the title to soften it up.

My third layout is one of my favourites :-) I used a photoshopped photo of my son walking into the bright sunlight onto the beach through a tunnel of trees. He really enjoys the beach and the Great Outdoors. I wanted to showcase the colours in the photo with a bright colourful background using Aladine Izinks = metallic awesomeness. I used a chevron background stamp and a compass stamp from Kaszazz and grid texture stamp from kaisercraft.

The close up of the chipboard corner piece from 2crafty shows how I altered it by painting it with gesso and stamping on it using the grid texture stamp.

The hessian border, black cotton, sequins and feathers add texture to the layout. The green foliage laser cut background is origin unknown, having found it in my scraps.

Hope you enjoyed seeing how the three layouts came together and the techniques used. Fingers crossed that 2crafty accepts my application to the design team. If not! there is always next time. Thanks for stopping by :-)
