'Spread your Wings' by Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafters!

Elisa here with my latest project for Scrap Matrix, a mixed media canvas featuring all sorts of goodies including 7 Dots, 13 Arts and Scrap Matrix metal and embellishments.

Here is a peek at a few of the products

Here is my project -

Let me show you how I created this canvas!

Step 1 - Gesso your canvas and let dry, glue down your Paper Lace - German Scraps and lightly gesso over the top

Step 2 - Using a 13 Arts Stencil and white modelling paste and palette knife, add some texture to your canvas over the top of your lace.

Step 3 - Wait until the modelling paste has dried and then glue down your 7 Dots studio - Dreamscapes die cut elements and chipboard

Step 4 - Add your colour to your canvas, I used a combination of 13 Arts Rainbow Colour in Brown and Yellow Amber, Ayeeda Water Inks, Ayeeda Chalk Mists and Ayeeda Splash Inks in Gold. I started adding colour from the inside of the canvas along with sprays of water and then tipped the canvas to create the drips, I like to dry my layers of colour inbetween. I also splattered Gold Ink in places over the colour.

Step 5 - Add Ayeeda 13 Arts Light Gold Mica Flakes with gel medium that drys clear and some more splats of gold.

Step 6 - Gesso your Scrap Matrix Metal with 13 Arts Primer. Then once dry add colour to your metal using the 13 Arts Rainbow Colour, Inks and paint. Making sure it is distressed by dabbing away some of your colour with a baby wipe

Step 7 - Glue your metal embellishments on the canvas and tie down your twine in a cross pattern. I also used glass dots to add more texture and flicked white 13 Arts ink onto the canvas.

Finish off your canvas by gluing down the last of your embellishments and adding your title over the top of the twine.

That's it from me today! I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial step by step and my project.

'Dare to Swim' by Elisa Ablett - Visible Image

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Visible Image with my next share for the month.

I wanted to showcase just how versatile the awesome stamps at Visible Image are by creating a multi dimensional mixed media layout featuring 'Dare to Swim' and 'The Ripple Effect' stamp sets.

To start with I stamped on Acetate with black Staz On Ink and fussy cut the images out and set them aside while I created my background.

The background colours and texture is created with Distress Ink Oxides, Distress stains and ART -C water brush pen.

I stamped 'The Ripple Effect' stamp on the background using the distress ink oxide ink pads masking half of the stamp off to create a half circle pattern. When you stamp them together they look like a wave!

Add some more stamping in black using the smaller bubble stamps from the Ripple Effect set across your page along with the fish from Dare to Swim.

Here are some close ups of the finer details!

Here is my mixed media layout, I really love this paper collection, grungy yet dreamy at the same time and great paired with gold and bronze accents.

Here are some close ups!

One of my favourite techniques is to use gold foil flakes on my chipboard pieces.

Use your stencils in a different way, trace the inside of your stencil with a black pen to create patterns on your background.

My first design team post for Visible Image !

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team with my first post representing Visible Image , this is so exciting for me, it's a dream team with the most exciting arty stamps and stencils!

For my first post and in keeping with the November 'make a tag' challenge theme over at Visible Image Facebook Group , I created the following tags.

For my first tag - I wanted to create a bold and vibrant mixed media tag using colourful and exciting mediums including Pebeo Metallic Paints and Colour Crush Powders from Tinby Designs and of course some lovely stamps from the Visible Image (Just be Happy and The Ripple Effect - Stamp Sets

Products Used:

and a discontinued stamp set.

For my second 'tag' (which is more like an ATC) I went a little darker in both the tone and mood of the project. The background is on a thick black cardstock as my base, I then layered Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap plus Blueberry Colour Crush Powder from Tinby Designs.

Next step was to use the fabulous Visible Image - Fibres Stencil along with some Colour Blast Bling Paste to add some texture.

I then stamped and fussy cut the main feature - the Skeleton from Mr Bone Jangles stamp set and using 3D mounting tape for depth.

Products used -

That's it from me today, I hope you have enjoyed seeing how you can utilise your Visible Image stamps with mixed media projects!

Hugs xx
