'#AWESOME" - By Elisa Ablett - September Inspiration

Hi 2Crafty fans 🙋

My turn up on the blog today with my latest 2Crafty creation for September.

I wanted to create a graffiti inspired mixed media layout to match this gorgeous
photo of my son and my great nephew and a graffiti wall at the local skate park.

The background was created with Distress Oxide inkpads and circles punched
from old book paper on a black background and features awesome chippy
pieces coloured to match the background.

For this layout I used the following Chipboard Pieces-

 #Awesome
Mini Sampler Set 1
Brick Panel

Here are some close ups of the finer details -

For the title #AWESOME, I painted it with a white Posca Paint pen and then let it dry,
once dry I swiped my blue inkpad across the bottom of the title.

I inked the chevron pieces and small circles from the  Mini Sampler Set
of chipboard with different Oxide inkpads to match the background, once dry
I stamped over the top of the small inked circles.

I cut off two panels off the brick 6 x6 panel of chippie and coloured it with the
distress oxide inkpads, layer the colour one by one to achieve a distress graffitti look!

Colour your chevrons and diecuts with splattered oxide ink by swiping your inkpad
onto a craft mat and spritzing with water. Then using a paint brush gather some of
the liquid and splatter it layer by layer onto your diecuts and desired chipboard pieces.

Finishing touch is to add splashes of gold ink onto your page!

That's it from me today, thank you for stopping by the blog.

Good for the Soul by Elisa Ablett

'Good for the Soul'

By Elisa Ablett

Hi Everyone,

I am up on the 2Crafty Chipboard blog today with another mixed media layout, combining some gorgeous pieces of chipboard along with handpainted stamped images.

I wanted a fun layout and stuck to the colours that were in the photo, blues and browns.

The 7 dots Studio paper with a painted background and the Aall and Create stamps combined with the awesome chipboard make for a unique and fun layout.

2Crafty Chipboard products used:

1. Sabine Circle Frames
2. Hummingbird
3. Ada's Flourish - border pieces

Let's take a look at the finer details!

Firstly, the hummingbird piece, I inked carefully in black ink and then using my finger
I smoothed Finnabair Art Alchemy Metallique Wax in Blue over the chipboard
and then a top coat of Vintage Gold.

For the second piece of chipboard and the set of Sabine's frames, I inked them all in black,
then added layers of Aged Brass and Vintage Copper Metallique
Wax over the pieces to give them a rusted look.

To create an interesting feature on the left side of my page, I cut one of the smaller Sabine Frames in half and tucked the cut edges underneath my fussy cut stamped images.

The larger frame I left a bit darker with just a small amount of Metallique wax smoothed over the top. I wanted to use the frame to draw attention to my fun photo.

I used the flourish border piece to create flow across my page, it has a rusted appearance to blend in with the colours of the background photo. Creating flow across your page draws the eye to your photo and main cluster of embellishments.

To finish off the layout, I hand painted with a small paintbrush and watercolours to match the colours from the background and photo, plus I love Mandala's and any sort of Bohemian look and I think the colours and chipboard make the layout unique, different and interesting.

Let me know what you think !

That's it from me today, thanks for stopping by the blog :-)

"Love that Smile'' by Elisa Ablett for 2Crafty Chipboard

'Love that Smile'

Hi Crafters,

Thanks for stopping by the Blog today.

Elisa here from the design team for 2crafty Chipboard with my latest inspiration for you;
a colourful boho style mixed media layout featuring some lovely pieces
of 2Crafty Chipboard and a half mandala background design featuring
the new Nuvo Shimmer Powders and Finnabair Metallic Wax.

2Crafty Products used:

Amelia Flower Stem - Large
Polaroid Frames
Love that Smile Title

Firstly, for my title I inked the chipboard in a metallic matching ink
and then roughly coloured over the top with a darker purple paint marker,
it matches perfectly with the script/handwriting of the title.

Next, I coloured the Polaroid frame in with a black glitter marker to
create a solid base for my photo cluster and to make the
colours pop a little more on my next piece of chippie.

For next piece of chipboard 'Amelia Flower Stem', I decided to alter by
first painting it black, then while still wet dipping it in the liquid made
by adding water to my Nuvo shimmer powders. I used the same shimmer powders
on my background as well to add colour and dimension to my mandala.

You can see that shimmer and shine happening on the chippie!

Add a bit of metallic wax by smoothing over the black modelling paste and the black chipboard
with a make up sponge or a dauber. Last details ! add some hand cut butterflies from acetate and paper to add to the boho look of your layout. You could also add feathers or wire or beads as well.

That's it from me today!

I hope you been inspired to try your very own Boho style layout complete with awesome Chipboard!

Hugs xx

'Son' by Elisa Ablett for Visible Image UK

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for Visible Image.

I have heard a few people say that they find it hard to create layouts for their older sons or husbands etc as most of the boy papers that are out there are geared towards younger boys.

As a mum of two boys, 14 and 9 years of age,  I love to make my own backgrounds to suit their personalities and get the most out of my stamps and stencils. Win Win!

This is my latest mixed media layout featuring a few of the new stamp sets and stencils from Visible Image from their last release. Shapes and bright colours and a bit of grunge is great for a masculine layout and still keeping it nice and light and fun.

Visible Image Products used in my layout -

Stencils....

Stamp Sets.....

Here are some close ups!

Layering with my mini circle gel plate and using a mask to stencil within the circle. Then layer with different circle stamps, I used Shape it Up and Grunge Splats!

Continue on with your circle theme by cutting or punching out circle shapes from tissue paper so that you can still see the gel plate circles underneath!

Add some black splats and grungy writing for that ultimate in grungy boy layout.

That's it from me today, I hope that I have inspired you to add a little mixed media with your awesome Visible Image products, don't forget to head to the shop to see the whole range!

'Create your own Calm' by Elisa Ablett

'Create your own Calm'

Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Visible Image with my latest design team layout.

A layered mixed media layout featuring an underwater sea theme, utilising the awesome 'Create  your own Calm and Dare to Swim' stamp sets as well as the Fibres Stencil from Visible Image.

To create the background, I used a small petite gel plate along with Dina Wakely Scribble Sticks to create a watercolour 'bubbly' scene. Add some stencilling and stamping and you can build a scene to suit your photo!

TIP - to draw your eye to the photo, create a 'flow' across your page using your stamps and stencils and then use key pieces such as the black circle and large stamped images to draw the eye to the photo.

Here are some close ups of the finer details!

Just look at the quality in the stamps, a clean crisp image every single time 💓

Here is the product list from Visible Image plus the links to the store !

That's it from me today,I hope you were inspired to try a little 'scene' building with your stamps with a little mixed media :-)

'Stronger' - Mixed Media Tag by Elisa Ablett

 Hi everyone,

Elisa here from the design team for Visible Image with a bright mixed media tag.

The background was created using a distress tool, smoothing the black ink through the new
'take my hand' stencil over your painted background.

I have also added touches of primary elements - Gold Mica powder to the distress tool and smoothed the mica powder over edges and some parts of the painted area of the tag.

I have also stamped and coloured in the eye and then punched it out with a circle punch
and then used 3d foam mounting tape to mount the eye over part of the hand.

Stamp and colour your title 'Stronger' with mica powder and then add to your tag.
