Be Creative - Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

To Create the Tag First - Stamp and Emboss in Black the Mandala Stamp, then using Distress Oxide Ink Pads in different colours - Smoosh ink onto your craft mat and dip your embossed image into it then flp over hit with the heat gun while spraying it with water. add gold foil leaf to the bottom using a cheap glue stick then brush excess off using a stiff brush after the glue has dried. Using a sewing machine attach a recycled baby wipe to the back of the tag on the right hand side. Glue to a piece of black cardstock.

Glue your Inky Antics piece of printed paper to your art journal page, Stamp and ink around the edges. Add washi tape stickers or tape before you add your extra distress Oxide ink . Stamp and Emboss your sentiment using black embossing powder.

That's from me today,

Beautiful things are never perfect by Elisa Ablett for Scrap FX

Hi everyone,

Elisa here again with my next inspiration post as a guest designer for Scrap FX.

Today I am sharing with you a nature collage- art journal page featuring loads of Scrap FX products.

Here are some close ups for you:-

Start your project by adding Writing Collage Paper in strips to your page using a glue stick, by far the easiest way to attach rice paper in my opinion.

I stitched my quote to my page and added more stitching along the sides to add some texture.

I love adding a bit of distressed gold leafing to 'Zoosh' up and add bling to my pages.

Adding some bold line marking stamping to the right hand side balances your design out and the Circle Collage stamp is perfect for adding some flat texture to  your page.

Here are the products I used from the Scrap FX Store along with the links below: -
Bunch of Flowers stamp  Circle collage stamps Line Marking stamp
Art Words transparencyWriting collage paper Ripples stencil

Writing Collage Paper

Other products - Distress Inks, Washi Tape Sticker, Colour Blast Artists Ink in Soot, Black Versafine Ink, Black Paint
Gold Leaf, Black Marker

Thanks for Stopping by the blog today,

Ridiculously Awesome by Elisa Ablett - Paper Rose Studio

Hi crafters,

Elisa here with my first post as part of the Paper Rose Design Team. I am super excited to join this team with their versatile and innovative stamps, dies and paper packs.

For my first project I created a grungy boy mixed media scrapbooking layout featuring loads of Paper Rose products which are listed below.

I also provide a quick run through of how I created the simple yet effective background and general 'white space' design.  By layering your stamping and dies you can create a background that looks 'lumpy and bumpy - full of depth and texture' but actually sits flat apart from your photo and dies.

Let's take a look at the close ups!!

Products used :
Black and White A5 Paper Set, Awesome Words stamp set, Awesome Layered Die, Texture 3 Die, Arty Love Arty Alphas stamp, Arty Love Mark Maker Stencil, Hud 6x6 Stencil

Other Products: House of Paper White Heavy Weight Cardstock, Black Cardstock, Distress Oxide Ink Pad, Versafine Black Ink Pad, Distress Blending Tool.

To create this design ...

To start the background, smoo
th Distress Ink through the  Paper Rose Hud Stencil to create your circles behind your photo.

Smooth Versafine Black ink with a blending tool as above through the Arty Mark Maker stencil onto your background.

Mat your photo which is 3 x 4 in white cardstock then again in Black and White stripes.

Die Cut the Paper Rose Texture Die x 2 in black cardstock.

Then Stamp and Die cut your title out using Awesome words and Die sets.

Using Versafine Ink pad in black stamp randomly over and around your stencilled areas with Arty Love Alpha Stamp and Awesome Words Stamp set.

Cut strips of black and white paper in stripes and the crosses paper and staple to your page.

Using a thin black pen add scribbled lines around the stamping.
Adhere all your elements to the page using glue and staples.

Use my main photo as a guide to where you stamp and stencil OR try a different design with your Paper Rose goodies.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Hugs

Christmas Ornament by Elisa Ablett

Hi Stampers,

Elisa here from the Ink Art Design Team with my last post for the year! In keeping with the season, I decided to make a funny Christmas Ornament using Katzelkraft stamps from the store - https://www.inkartdesigns.com/product-category/stamps/stamps-stamps/

Before I continue I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year.

Hopefully you will all get a chance to create and get Inky over the Christmas break, so don't forget to get your entries into the Ink Art Stamping Playground December challenge album - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.2549149125321173&type=3

Here is my step by step for those wishing to see how the ornament came together!

1. Stamp on thick mixed media white cardstock using your versafine black inkpad and quickly emboss with your black embossing powder before the ink dries. Heat set and continue stamping and embossing until you have the images you desire for your ornament.
2. I used Farm Animals and Grumpy Penguins from Katzelkraft as well as their accessories stamp set which is awesome to make your little characters come alive !
3. Once you have stamped and embossed, use markers or water colours to add colour to your images.

4.  Fussy cut your images out and add more details using a black and also a white fine tip marker from Posca or gel pen etc.

5. I found this pack of four DIY decorate baubles from Spotlight Australia and had the idea to make my own ornaments with little characters and scenes, best bargain ever at $2.50 each pack!

6. Seperate a circle ornament and cut background paper to fit the cardboard circle that goes in the middle of the ornament. Trim any over hanging edges.

7. Start putting your scenes together!

8. Let me introduce you to Snow-tex if you don't already know it, it is made by Decoart and is fabulous for 3D snow effects. Using a paint brush, add snow to the top of your first scene, to the penguins hat and the presents. Use 3D foam mounting tape behind the presents and penguin to create a shadow box effect.

9. For the second scene, I attached the sheep's hat first and used 3D foam mounting tape to give him some depth, then I cut a small length of the christmas light stickers which I bought 60% off at Spotlight, another bargain woohoo!! I wanted it to look like the sheep had the end of the lights in his teeth - pulling the lights down (being a bit naughty)
10. I used a label maker to make my quotes but you can use small alpha stamps or computer generate your own to suit.

Here are both scenes side by side ready to put the ornament together. I crumbled up a piece of recycled packaging to represent snow and turning it into a snow globe as well!!

Add a piece of ribbon to the top once you have popped the two sides together and hang on your tree.

Products used from the store:

Katzelkraft stamps:

Versafine black inkpad
Embossing inkpad
Snowtex by Decoart
DIY Baubles and Christmas Lights stickers - Spotlight Australia
Recycled packing peanut

That's it from me today, enjoy your Christmas and see you all in the New Year.

'Always Forgive Yourself' by Elisa Ablett - Scrapbooking Page

Hi Stamp lovers,

Elisa here again from the design team for Ink Art Designs with my latest project, this time a colourful mixed media scrapbooking page.

Featuring one of my most favourite stamp sets, Art by Marlene Bohemian Flowers and the vibrant acrylic paints by Dina Wakely all available in store today.

Products used from the store - Ink Art Designs

Image result for visible image stencils

Dina Wakely paint colours used:
Magenta, Tangerine, Lapis, Peacock, Turquoise, white

White Gel pen

Let's take a closer look at the layout: -

To create the background, I used Dina Wakely Acrylic Paints gently sponged through the Visible Image Geometric Stencil to match my main feature which are the fussy cut flowers. I also used a craft spatula dipped in white paint to make white lines and marks on my background.

You may also spot some Dina Wakely Washi Tape in the background, I tore strips of the tape and added to the middle of page.

To make the flowers, I started with a blank piece of A4 white heavy weight mixed media cardstock. Then using a palette knife or even your finger, smooth all the different colours of your paint over the A4 cardstock. It doesn't matter if it looks like a toddler fingerpainted lol, it won't matter when you stamp over the top with your gorgeous stamps.

Once the paint is dry completely, stamp using a black archival ink all over the cardstock and let dry. Then fussy cut all your pieces out, while watching TV or something on Netflix, if you are like me and sometimes fussy cutting can be a bit of chore l like to sit in front of TV or in between cooking dinner etc. a bit at a time. Get creative with your fussy cutting, make circles out of flowers etc

Add that little bit extra to the background using white paint and your stamps. I smear a small bit of white paint into a larger circle onto my craft mat then dip my stamp into it, I do a few practise stamps first then re-dip it in to test how much paint goes onto my stamp. Using white doesn't detract from the lovely rainbow of colours used to create your flowers.

Once you are ready to start layering and gluing down your flowers, make sure you place your photo where you want it to sit first and work around it.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, make sure you leave some love and before you go, make sure you get your entry into this month's challenge over on the Ink Art Designs Facebook page.

We are all out of bubblegum - Art Journal Page by Elisa Ablett

Hi stamp lovers!

Elisa here again with my latest project for Ink Art Designs, a mixed media 'cheeky penguin' art journal page!

My youngest son is in love with penguins, having completed many a school project on them and also seeing them at wildlife parks. We also love the penguins in the movie Madagascar and when I saw this stamp I knew I had to have it in my collection.  So many cheeky quotes and sayings come to mind lol.

When I positioned the penguins on my page, I wanted them to look like they were staring at the reader to sense the 'impending violence' from the penguins after their gum had run out. I think the gel printed circle in the background works well with highlighting them.

Let's take a look at the products used to complete this page.

Image result for darkroom door grunge marks

Other products used:

Paper Artsy Paints
Circle Gel Plate
Black Soot Watercolour Ink - Colour Blast
Versafine Ink - Black
Fine Black Marker
Circle Template

To start my page, I used a 4 inch circle gel plate and Paper Artsy paints to create my sunset.
Smooth a small amount of yellow, orange and deep red over your gel plate with a small brayer until the edges of each colour have blended. Then lay a stencil down over the top and brayer a small amount of white paint through. Then lay your paper down and smooth over the top with your hands to get your print. Once dry fussy cut the circle out and using circle templates and a black marker, make grungy circles over your sunset.

Stamp and colour your penguins, then once dry fussy cut them out and put them aside until you are ready to adhere to the page.

My next step is to glue my sunset down onto my page, then go around the circle with black ink and spritz with water. Dry the black ink and now you can add your grungy stamping and stencilling.

I added some black grungy lines to make a 'horizon' and drew a cityscape free hand in the back ground to make it look like they are standing in front of a city.

Add some scribbly writing, more grungy stamping and your title and lastly your penguins!

Your art journal page is complete.

Don't forget to stop by the Ink Art Designs Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/InkArtDesigns/ to join in the monthly 'pretty much anything goes' challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today x
