Hi Scrap Matrix Fans,

My turn up on the Scrap Matrix blog today with my first inspiration for the month of April.

I wanted to create a fairy garden for the photo of my 'great' niece who is often the subject of my scrapbooking pages. I  wanted use all different types of materials including acetate and alcohol inks plus those AWESOME Art by Marlene Stamps which are becoming my firm fav. Distress Oxides ink pads made their way in to create the background, love that they can either be as bright or more mellow depending on your technique !

Let's take a closer look at the layout!

To create the flowers, I dabbed alcohol inks over an acetate sheet, then sprinkle Alcohol Ink blending solution to create some lovely patterns and blending. I then waited for it to dry then stamped the flowers, stems and leaves in Staz On Jet Black ink. Then fussy cut once dry.

To create the background I used Distress Oxide Inkpads and a smooshing technique on a craft mat along with spritz's of water. Then drag your paper through the liquid and dry between each layer. I also smoothed Distress Oxide Inks over Paper Artsy Stencils using a blending tool, just to give the background some depth.

Add some stamping using an Aall and Create Stamp #47  and your quote.

I used an old 13 Arts sticker sheet (the wings) to add underneath my fussy cut photo which i mounted on 3D foam tape.

Hi friends,

Elisa here with my last layout for 2Crafty Chipboard, but this doesn't mean you won't see me around Facebook, Instagram and in groups so please make sure you still say hi and keep following me with my new endeavours.

I cannot thank Vanessa and Di enough for such a fabulous opportunity to be a part of a super talented team and lovely bunch of designers and I will miss them and hopefully one day I can apply to the team again.

For my last layout I decided to break open my Oxide Inkpads for the background and also see if I could incorporate them to cover chipboard as well.

Let's take a closer look at the chipboard used in this layout -

For the title 'Magical' I heat embossed with a white glitter embossing powder 

and the film strip was inked with black ink to make the title pop out !

I love how the 'Wildflower set' turned out, it was completely a happy accident, I inked the chipboard with an embossing liquid but for some reason it wasn't that tacky and only some of the black embossing powder stuck to the pieces. So I had a thought of adding some of the Oxide Colours from the background to cover the parts of the chipboard that had a small amount or no embossing powder on it. The colours of the Oxides remained so vibrant and bright on raw chipboard and I really liked the colourful distressed look.

I also inked the circle chipboard and heat embossed with black glossy embossing powder and lastly the Mini ATC Stars, I coloured with a gold glitter watercolour pen just to add that sparkle. I also added some gold splatters to the background.

Here are some close ups of the finer details:

For my title chipboard piece, I heat embossed with a brilliant white embossing powder 

to make it pop off the page! I added splatters of white gesso over my page as well to soften the background colours and tie in with the white embellishments.

I hand coloured the present chipboard in a lovely red and white colour scheme from the challenge graphic from CSI Challenge Blog. I used fine tip tombow markers.

The ornamental Christmas baubles I heat embossed with a white glitter embossing powder just to add that extra bling and shine to the them. I staggered them around the other circles on my layout to add another layer to my background. The felt poinsettias were fussy cut from a very old piece of Christmas scrapbooking paper that didn't have a brand name on it so I can't list it on here, Sorry! but it was lush and adds texture to my page!

The background circles are chipboard nesting circles which I heat embossed with shiny black embossing powder. Once they were dry, I added scraps of Christmas paper and wood grain paper to add a few elements from the CSI challenge.

I loved participating as a Guest Designer for CSI as part of the 2Crafty Design Team contingent, what a fabulous Christmas themed challenge, just the right inspiration for all those new Christmas photos.

'Dream' by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

Thanks for stopping by the 2Crafty blog today.

I have another mixed media girl layout to share with you today.

The photo is of my great niece, a gorgeous gal with loads of personality and big dreams.

I wanted to create a mixed media layout brimming with pastel colours and soft flowers.

I also love a bit of bohemian style to my layouts and the stencil work combined with the flowers, butterflies and gorgeous turkish lanterns worked together beautifully!

I must say the colour combo of berry, blues and turquoise has got to be a new favourite of mine.

Lets take a closer look at what techniques I used to alter my chipboard for the layout:

For my title and in keeping with the boho style, 

I painted my title bright white and added an offcut of lace and machine stitching 

using berry coloured thread underneath. 

I also added the stitching to my coloured die cut butterfly embellishment.

The Turkish Lanterns are gorgeous! 

I heat embossed them with Berry coloured embossing powder, 

then I painted the chain and selected bits with a black Posca paint pen. 

The backing paper is an off cut of water colour paper sprayed with the turquoise spray

 and then fussy cut and glued to fit the back of the lanterns.

I selected a lovely Lacey Border piece and inked it with black ink, it serves as a great backing piece and border to separate my stencilled background from the white space below.

The gorgeous Rose Set of chipboard was calling my name for this layout!

To achieve this dreamy pastel look on my chipboard, I lightly gesso'd my pieces of chipboard - 

Rose Set and Angie's Vines and then once dry I used a paint brush 

to paint the 13 Arts Chalk Pastel Sprays in Berry and Turquoise

 onto my pieces of chippie. If you wanted an even lighter shade, 

water the sprays down or add a small amount of gesso.

"Face your fears" by Elisa Ablett for 2Crafty Chipboard

STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL INCLUDED!!!

My turn up on the blog today with my latest inspiration for the month of October.

I was going through some photos and found a great sequence of photos of my youngest son on his scooter from a recent trip to the skate park. 

I used the colour scheme from his clothes and the stripes from his shirt as the basis of my layout 

and then added my chipboard to match, great pieces for a boy layout.

 Here are the awesome chipboard pieces from 2Crafty that I used in my layout: -

STEP BY STEP

STEP ONE - using your gel plate 12 x 12 or 12 x 14 size plate, add your blue colour first in the middle of your plate, then add a few drops of white paint then brayer over the top, it will create a lovely distressed striped pattern. I matched my blue paint to the colour of the shirt in the photo. Tip your white cardstock upside down onto the paint and rub gently on the back and then pull your print! It should look like the photo below in the middle of your page.

STEP TWO - Using a liquid paper correction pen and a ruler, add some white lines to your gel plate print background and put the background aside to dry.

STEP THREE - Use a bright post box red paint to paint your number panels, I used fine tip scissors and snipped my panels as in the photo above.

STEP FOUR - Cut your photos to size and mount on white cardstock and then ink around the edges

STEP FIVE - Add some stamping to your page, use distressed marks from Darkroom Door, Face your fears set by Andy Skinner for Stampendous, Aall and Create stamps to name a few. Grab your favourites!

STEP SIX - Paint your Polaroid frames black, then let dry. 

Then using white embossing powder and a grid stamp, 

emboss white grid patterns onto your painted chipboard as shown in the next few photos.

Emboss your Scooter Kid title with the white embossing powder as well.

STEP SEVEN - Use a post box red paint (or candied apple) to add lines to your layout. 

Squirt some of the paint onto your craft mat and using the side of your ruler, 

rub it through the paint and then stamp it onto your page, 

you can also drag it along your page as well for a different effect.

Stamp using a red ink pad and number stamps along the left hand side of your page 

as well to match the red on the right.

STEP EIGHT - Glue your Polaroid frames to the page and place your numbers over the top 

but don't glue them until you have your photos correctly 

positioned onto the page. Glue both down onto your page and then 

add your title and Charms Creations Silver Glitter star as an extra embellishment.

Last few steps are - stamp a few road signs (mine are from the Stampendous Andy Skinner set of stamps and Viva Las Vegas Stamp Co.) fussy cut them out and add to your page.

Glue your inked skull down to your star embellishment.

Using a yellow Irresistible Pico Embellisher add yellow highlights to your page, scribbly writing, some grungy marks and a few lines.
